Contract package # C-2 HRT: Construction of HRT (Head Race Tunnel)

The project consist of a Head Race Tunnel (HRT) of 11 m diameter circular finished, 8,514 m  long to carry a design discharges of 466 Cumec. The Package C-2 covers construction of 6,514 m length out of 8,514 m total length. The balance length of 2,000 m is covered under C-3 package i.e Powerhouse Complex. The contract package C-2 was awarded to M/s Gammon India Limited at contract amount of INR. /Nu 3,983.27 Million on June 26, 2011. The construction of HRT under Package C-2 is being carried out through two numbers of Adits of size 7.5 m x 7.5 m D-shaped of length 600 m and 546 m. The excavation of Adit-I and Adit-II has been completed on April 30, 2013 and August 10, 2012 respectively. The excavation of HRT is being carried out in two stages i.e. Heading and Benching with conventional drilling and blasting method. The HRT is concrete lined (PCC/RCC) with thickness varying from 550 mm to 725 mm. The overall progress of HRT completed under contract package C-2 is 65.14%.
